ECOVADIS
Den Hartogh is listed on, and our sustainability is measured by, the online platform Ecovadis. Our score went up once again in 2023, and for the coming period we have established a virtual team to further significantly improve our score.
We offer our customers an HVO (biodiesel) service that can cut down up to 90% of the CO₂ emissions compared to regular diesel trucking. By adopting HVO renewable diesel, we are able to not only reduce our carbon footprint, but also provide customers with sustainable transport solutions that align with their environmental goals.
In Sweden, we now operate three electric trucks in direct collaboration with our customer there, realising a CO₂ reduction of between 95-100% compared to regular diesel trucks.
Looking back with satisfaction at the first full year of utilising our electric Den Hartogh truck in the Rotterdam port area, we invested in an additional electric truck which will be deployed in early 2024.
2023 saw us improve our capability of calculating and reporting on CO₂ emissions for the whole company. This enables Den Hartogh to effectively monitor the results of its actions to reduce CO₂ emissions, but also to report to the relevant authorities. We have furthermore enhanced the overall CO₂ reporting and are now able to demonstrate to our customers the environmental impact of their intra-European shipments. Based on this data, customers will be able to make a choice between different types of executions and thus manage their carbon footprint.
This includes the following objectives:
03
02
01
All our activities are measurable according to the GLEC* standards
25% carbon reduction by 2025
We will work carbon-neutral by 2050
We do not only strive for the physical delivery of the goods of our customers, but we also want to do this in a responsible way to limit our environmental footprint and enhance our positive impact on the world. We are committed to the objectives formulated in the Paris Climate Agreement.
The fifth pillar of SPECE represents our commitment to environmental sustainability. It is evident to all that the climate is undergoing rapid changes, and the finite resources of our planet will eventually be depleted. As Den Hartogh, we acknowledge the pressing need for action, shifting towards a more sustainable organisation and operations. We are determined to collaborate with all stakeholders to minimise our environmental footprint and reduce our impact on the planet.

GREEN TEAM
The launch of a Den Hartogh Green Team, consisting of Den Hartogh ambassadors located all over the globe, created a high level of engagement to get to work on environmental sustainability. The ambassadors focus on making a difference by spreading their knowledge and starting local initiatives to propel our environmental sustainability journey forwards.
DH ACADEMY
Our employee journey towards environmental sustainability began in 2023, marked by a foundational introduction e-learning for all employees covering essential topics such as sustainability in logistics, European legislation, and an explanation of how we measure our CO₂ footprint within Den Hartogh Logistics. This initial step in sustainability promises not only to drive employee engagement and retention, but also charts the course for our employees' sustainability journey.
